If you wonder why Beatles videos can take endless years to be released (or rereleased), the credits line on the back of the Yellow Submarine video releases may give a clue: ©1968,1999 Subafilms Ltd., Distributed by MGM Home Entertainment, Available exclusively through Warner Home Video, Apple Corps. The box also contained several flyers and sheets on other Warner Brothers movie titles. Contents included a VHS promo " Featurette", 1-page intro letter with release and pricing details, a 1-page line-art ad sheet, and an 8-page die-cut color brochure (above right). In early July video promo kits were mailed to retailers in a well-made custom 12" x 12-1/2" x 1-1/2" thick cardboard box (above left). The new ending credits state: "All songs and audio were edited, remastered and remixed entirely in 24 bit digital specifically for the 6 channel DTS sound system used in theatres and for DVD and laser discs.". MGM also developed several account-specific sweepstakes and promotions. MGM screened the film in 20 markets and also promoted the Video, DVD and CD on VH-1 and through national television and print ads. ![]() The DVD includes a behind-the-scenes featurette, The Mod Odyssey behind-the-scenes photos from the making of the film a music-only track highlighting the film's Score interviews with the crew and vocal talents original pencil drawings three story board sequences, including two that did not make it into the film, and an 8-page booklet with "insider" info. (minimum advertised price) was $13.95 for the VHS and $22.95 for the DVD. With heavy merchandising tie-ins, many retailers used the video as a loss-leader.
